TUESDAY, 11 SEPTEMBER 1945
RAAF: Lost is C-47A Datoka A65-56 (MIA) crashed into Milne Bay.
IJA: Lt. General Hatazo Adachi commander 18th Army accompanied by his staff walk to the front lines of the Australian Army, C Company, 2/7 Infantry Battalion at Kiarivu and were escorted to battalion headquarters.
IJA: The Japanese surrender delegation on Morotai embarks aboard their Ki-49 Helen and Ki-21 Sally
then fly back to Malimpoeng Airfield (Pinrang) on Celebes to put the surrender into effect.
U.S. Navy: Operation Magic Carpet begins transporting U.S. personell from the Pacific back to the United States.
USMC: Headquarters and Service Company and Weapons Company, 6th Marines, Fleet Marine Force, changed to Headquarters and Service Company and Weapons Company, 3d Marine Brigade, Fleet Marine Force.
