Japanese Aircraft Dataplates Japanese aircraft carried a more dataplates than Allied built planes. With dataplates attached to aircraft in hundreds of locations and components [See Note]. This was a function of the nature of aircraft production in Japan, where sub-contractors were creating components and the part numbers allowed them verify quantities delivered to the parent company for final assembly into a completed aircraft.
