Location Lat 34° 35' 51N Long 117° 22' 59W Victorville Airfield is located at an elevation of 2,885' above sea level in Victorville in San Bernardino County of California in the United States. Also known as "Victorville Air Force Base", "Victorville AFB" or "Victorville Field". Still in use today as Southern California Logistics Airport. Naming Honors On June 2, 1950 named "George AFB" after Brigadier General Harold H. George who died April 29, 1942 at Batchelor Field near Darwin. In December 1992 George AFB was officially decommissioned and environmental cleanup began on a fast track schedule so the former property could quickly be transfered to the community. Today Still in use today as Southern California Logistics Airport as a civilian airport with two runways. The first runway is oriented 21/03 measures 9,138' x 150' surfaced with PEM (partially concrete, asphalt or bitumen-bound macadam).
