Location Lat Lat 63° 59' 40N 145° 43' 18W Big Delta Army Airfield is located to the south of Big Delta to the east of Fairbanks in Alaska in the United States. Construction Built during 1942 as Big Delta Army Airfield, it was named for river delta formed by the confluence of the Delta River and the Tanana River. It was later renamed Allen Army Airfield. Fort Greely was built south of the airfield after World War II. Today Still in use today as Allen AAF a military airport. Airport codes: FAA: BIG / ICAO: PABI / IATA: BIG. The airfield has three runways. The first runway is oriented 24/06 measures 4,647' x 150' surfaced with asphalt. The second runway is oriented 27/09 measures 6,193' x 150' surfaced with asphalt.
