Fighter 3 (Emergency Field) Guadalcanal Solomon Islands

Location
Fighter 3 was located near the north coast of Guadalcanal. Also known as the "Emergency Field" or "Fighter No. 3". Located to the east is the Ilu River and to the north is Tenaru. To the north is Fighter 1 (Lunga Field) and to the northwest is Henderson Field (Bomber 1).

Construction
During late August 1942, a single runway measuring 5,000' x 150' oriented roughly northeast to southwest was built by the Americans at this location. A track ran parallel to the runway on the southern side of the runway.

By January 1945, this runway was only used as an emergency field. Disused since the end of the Pacific War.

Today
St. Josephs Church at Tenaru is located near the former runway.
