(USMC) Three divisions of of VMF-214 escort SBD Dauntless dive bombing Kara Airfield.

(USMC) Around dawn, two F4U Corsairs of VMF-214 piloted by Chris Magee and McCurg, strafed Kara Airfield from below treetop height. A light was seen in the control tower, and each expended 700 rounds apiece on five aircraft at the end of the strip Reference: The Black Sheep page 268
(USN, 13th AF) During the day, Kara Airfield is hit by B-24's, Venturas, P-38's, P-40's, and USN fighters and dive bombers.

October 21, 1943
(13th AF) 12 B-25's, with an escort of 36 fighters, attack Kara Airfield.

October 22, 1943
(USN) USN aircraft hit Kara Airfield.

October 23, 1943
(USN) 60+ US Navy dive bombers and fighters in a strike on Kara Airfield.
(USN, 13th AF) Later in the day, a second strike by 35 AAF fighters and 42 USN dive bombers.

(USN, 13th AF) P-39's and P-40's join USN fighters and dive bombers in a strike on Kara.

October 27, 1943
(13th AF) B-24's pound Kara Airfield.

October 28, 1943
USN, 13th AF P-40's and P-39's join USN fighters and dive bombers in attacks on Kara Airfield.

October 30, 1943
(USN, 13th AF) Kara Airfield is bombed by 16 B-24's dropping 1,000 lbs bombs. Shortly afterwards is hit again by 90+ USN dive bombers (30 SBD, 24 TBF) escorted by USN and AAF fighters.

(13th AF) Kara Airfield is bombed by nineteen B-24D Liberators that drop a total of 152 x 1,000 pounds on the runway area. Their raid was followed by thirty SBD Dauntless dive bombers, twenty-four TBF Avengers and two squadrons of B-25D Mitchells from 42nd Bombardment Group (42nd BG).

(USN, USMC) A mixed formation of U.S. Navy (USN) and U.S. Marine Corps (USMC) planes including 48 SBD Dauntless dive bombers and 24 TBF Avengers on bombing and strafing attack against anti-aircraft guns and installations in the vicinity of Ballale Airfield and Kara Airfield. The formation found southern Bougainville covered in clouds and instead diverted to strike Ballale Airfield on Ballale Island.

(USMC) FG Corsair pilot Erdmann from VMO-251 strafed huts and gardens in the vicinity of Kara Airfield.
