Location Hula Airfield is located north of Hula on Hood Point on the south coast of New Guinea. Also known as "Hood Point Airfield". To the northwest is Port Moresby. Prewar and during the Pacific War known as the Central District of the Territory of Papua. Today located in Central Province in Papua New Guinea (PNG). Construction Built as a single runway surfaced with grass for use as a emergency airfield. Wartime History Used as an Allied emergency landing strip airstrip by the USAAF and RAAF. During few aircraft force landed or crashed at this strip, unable to make it back to Port Moresby. On December 5, 1943 around 10:00am, F-4 "Malaria Mabel" 41-2130 landed at Hula Airfield to aid F-4 Lignting 41- pilot F/O Kross who was injured. Later, an L-5 Sentinel landed and Kross was transported to Port Moresby. Today Hula Airfield was abandoned since the Pacific War.
