Location Satawan Airfield is located on Satawan Island (Satowan) in the Mortlock Island Group (Nomoi Islands) in Chuuk State (Truk) in the Federated States of Micronesia. Construction Built by the Japanese as a military airfield. Wartime History During the Pacific War used by the Japanese. In 1944, attacked by U.S. Navy (USN) aircraft and U.S. Army Air Force (USAAF) B-24 Liberators and was also subjected to a shore bombardment by a cruiser from Task Group 58.1 (TG 58.1).
