Location Bundaberg Airfield was located at Bundaberg in central Queensland in Australia. Also known as "RAAF Station Bundaberg". Construction Prewar, built by the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) as a military airfield. Wartime History During World War II, used by the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) and Netherlands East Indies Air Force (NEIAF). RAAF units based at Bundaberg 32 Squadron 'B' Flight May 1, 1943 - September 4, 1944 66 Squadron arrives May 20, 1943–January 6, 1944 71 Squadron 'B' Flight May 1, 1942 - January 26, 1943 88 OBU June 14, 1945 - April 26, 1946 12 EFTS - October 16, 1941–January 12, 1942 8 SFTS - December 14, 1941 - July 25, 1945 NEIAF units based at Bundaberg NEIAF Personnel & equipment pool June 25, 1945 - April 26, 1946 Today On July 3, 1947 closed as a military airfield. Disused as an airfield since then. Today, one building remains and several streets are related to the former airfield. Building 161 A large surviving wartime aircraft hangar.
