Background
Attended Loyola University and was a star basketball player. Enlisted in the US Navy during 1940 and assigned to USS Lexington CV-2 during January 1941 to VS-2 operating SBD Dauntless dive bombers. Quigley participated in the Battle of the Coral Sea, and ditched SBD Dauntless 4531 and was later rescued and decorated for this mission.
