Built by Douglas at the El Segundo Plant, California. Constructors Number 2268. Assigned to the United States Marine Corps (USMC). Assigned to VMSB-132. No known nose art or nickname.

Mission History
Took off from Bomber 1 Airfield (Palikulo Field, Fighter 1) on Espiritu Santo for a training mission. This aircraft became lost over the open ocean and ditched atop a coral reef.

Twenty SBDs from the squadron took off to search for this aircraft. Located, both were rescued. Two of the search aircraft became lost themselves and crashed SBD 06962 piloted by Gordon and SBD 10697 piloted by Hicks.
