U.S. Navy Midshipman James Valentine Carney
U S. Civil Engineer Corps and Commanding Officer (C. O.)
of Naval Construction Battalion 14 (NCB 14) "Seabees". He helped build Bomber 2 on Guadalcanal and was also a pilot. On December 16, 1942 Killed In Action (KIA) piloting SBD Dauntless 06667 . Afterwards, Bomber 2 was named "Carney Field" in his honor.
