Plane Carries Pilot to Death
WHEELER, April 1 (Special) - A search party Wednesday found the scattered wreckage of a Navy Helldiver plane which crashed a few hours earlier on a wooded ridge east of Rockaway, killing the pilot.
A group of loggers who saw the plane circling under a low overcast before the fatal crash led the way to the scene, taking with them Chief Aviation Pilot L. S. Kuriger, San Diego, pilot of one of the two Helldivers which took off from Tillamook Navy Air Base at 1:30 P.M. en route to San Diego.
Name of the dead pilot was withheld by Navy officials pending notification of next of kin.
