Assigned to the Soviet Air Force (VSS).
This aircraft and pilot was the first confirmed aircraft shot down and casualty of the Battle of Khalkhin Gol / Nomonhan Incident, confirmed by both Japanese and Russian records.
Mission History
Took off on a liaison mission to the 6th Mongolian Cavalry Division. Intercepted by Ki-27’s of the 24th Sentai, 2nd Chutai led by Captain Marimoto, who claimed the shot down of a "R-5".
