Built by Lockheed at Burbank, CA. No known nickname or nose art.
While attempting to take off overloaded from Isle de Guadalupe Airfield, this aircraft suffered serious damage and was abandoned at the airfield.
Remains were it was abandoned at the airfield.
John Stanaway adds:
"On first impression I would guess that it could be a PV-1 or PV-3 or perhaps a C-60 (no turrets or gun ports visible. Perhaps it was one of the Caribbean losses (camouflage type does not seem to jibe). It definitely looks military, so I would peremtorily rule out a civilian model 18. Let me go through my remaining files to see if I have any data on aircraft downed in that region, and I will get back to you with anything I find on this interesting puzzle."
Some references incorrectly note this aircraft as a B-25J Mitchell
