Built by Boeing as PB2B-2 Catalina. Constructors Number 61159. Assigned US Navy (USN) Bureau Number 44253. Royal Air Force (RAF) serial number JX635.

Wartime History
Delivered to the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) as Catalina A24-378. On September 8, 1945 assigned to 113 Air Sea Rescue Flight (ASRF).

This Catalina was purchased by Qantas. Registered in Australia as VH-EAX.

On June 24, 1949, the aircraft came away from its moorings at Lord Howe Island and was wrecked on the shore.

The aircraft located at the Qantas Founders Museum in Longreach with the registration VH-EAX is actually PBY-6A Bu No 46644.
