Aircraft History Built by Republic at Farmingdale, NY. Delivered to the U.S. Army Air Force (USAAF) as P-47D-2-RE Thunderbolt serial number 42-8075. Disassembled and shipped overseas to the South West Pacific Area (SWPA) and reassembled. Wartime History Assigned to the 5th Air Force (5th AF), 348th Fighter Group (348th FG), 342nd Fighter Squadron (342nd FS) "Scourgers". Nicknamed at "Hell'za Poppin" in white on the engine cowling. On October 22, 1943 suffered a landing accident at 7 Mile Drome (Jackson) near Port Moresby and was badly damaged. Ultimate fate unknown, likely scrapped or otherwise disappeared.
