Telegram from War Department reporting Robert E. Thorpe Missing In Action (MIA)
This telegram was read by younger brother Gil Thorpe on Sunday, June 11, 1944 at 7:00pm that reads:
"Mr. Walter R. Thorpe,
The Secretary of War desires me to express his deep regret that your son second Lieutenant Robert E. Thorpe has been Missing In Action since twenty seven May over New Guinea. If Further details or other information are received you will be promptly notified."
