Built by Curtiss in Buffalo, New York. Delivered U. S. Army serial number unknown. Disassembled and shipped overseas to Australia and reassembled.
Wartime History
Assigned to the 5th Air Force, 49th Fighter Group, 7th Fighter Squadron. No known nickname or nose art. Abandoned near Dobodura.
Wreckage
Until the early 1990s, this P-40 remained in situ near Dobodura
Recovery
During the early 1990s, this wreckage was exported (reportedly with P-40N "Suzy" P-40E 42-105820) by
a New Zelander, transported to Lae then shipped to New Zealand.
Today
Whereabouts today are unknown. This E model
is possibly in Townsville, painted in Royal New Zealand Air Force (RNZAF) markings. This N might
be for sale or sold by Pioneer Aviation as a restoration project.
