Built by Curtiss in Buffalo, New York. Curtiss-Wright number 563 (CW-563). Constructors Number 16535. Delivered to the U. S. Army on December 15, 1941. Assigned to "Project X" on December 30, 1941. Disassembled and shipped overseas bound for the Philippines but was diverted to Australia arriving on Jaunary 30, 1942 and reassembled.
Assigned to the 5th Air Force, 49th Fighter Group, 8th Fighter Squadron. Assigned to Lt. Clyde H. Barnett and nicknamed "Janet" with squadron number 55.
On June 7, 1942 took off from Darwin and ditched into the surf off the Cox Peninsula. Officially, this P-40 was written off on June 16, 1942.
