Aircraft History
Built by Bell in Buffalo, New York. Delivered to the U. S. Army. Disassembled and shipped overseas to Australia and reassembled. This Airacobra was armed with a 20mm cannon.

Wartime History
Assigned to the 5th Air Force, 8th Fighter Group, 36th Fighter Squadron. Nose letter Q. Nicknamed "Air-A-Cutie" with a nude woman on each side of the nose. The spinner, a circular ring around the nose and tip of the tail were all painted white. This aircraft operated in New Guinea. Ultimate fate unknown, likely scrapped or otherwise disappeared.

"My bias is towards aircraft being a P-39Q not the P-39D-1 41-28267 often quoted, as I consider this as being in error."
