Aircraft History
Built by Lockheed Aircraft Corporation (LAC) in Burbank, California. Delivered to the U. S. Army, serial number unknown. Disassembled and shipped overseas to the South Pacific and reassembled.

Wartime History
Assigned to the 13th Air Force, 347th Fighter Group. No known nickname or nose art.

Mission History
During 1943, took off from Segi Airfield (Seghe) and ditched 50' off the runway into the sea. The pilot was unhurt and swam ashore. Date of ditching unknown, likely middle 1943.

The wreck is intact, including propellers and canopy. The 20mm cannon is still present, but the four 50 caliber machine guns are removed (unclear if salvaged during the war or afterwards). The aircraft has little marine growth and is a popular for SCUBA divers.
