Aircraft History
Built by Lockheed Aircraft Corporation (LAC) in Burbank, California. Delivered to the U. S. Army. This aircraft had a natural aluminum finish. Disassembled and shipped overseas and reassembled.

Wartime History
Assigned to 5th Air Force, 49th Fighter Group, 8th Fighter Squadron. No known nose art or nickname.

Mission History
On January 31, 1945 took off from McGuire Airfield (San Jose Airfield) on Mindoro Island on a combat mission and crashed near Batangas.

Memorials
Hill was officially declared dead the day of the mission. He is memorialized on the tablets of the missing at Manila American Cemetery.

Relatives
Mike Hill (son) adds:
"I''ve found the crash site, but was wondering about your research, specifically roster of pilots flying that day. Trying to find who his wing man was."
