Cornelius M. "Corky" Smith, Jr. of Brooklyn, New York was assigned four aircraft, nicknamed P-38 "Corky", P-38H "Corky Jr." 42-66668, P-38J "Corky III" 42-67580 and P-38J "Corky IV". Credited with a total of 11 victories.

Aircraft History
Built by Lockheed Aircraft Corporation (LAC) in Burbank, California. Delivered to the U. S. Army. Disassembled and shipped overseas and reassembled.

Wartime History
Assigned to the 5th Air Force, 8th Fighter Group, 80th Fighter Squadron. Assigned to pilot Cornelius "Corky" M. Smith. Nicknamed "Corky III". Nose Letter "S". Ultimate fate unknown likely scrapped or otherwise disappeared.
