Aircraft History
Built by Lockheed Aircraft Corporation (LAC) in Burbank, California. Delivered to the U. S. Army Air Force (USAAF) as P-38E Lightning serial number 41-2027.

Wartime History
Assigned to the 11th Air Force. Officially condemned on October 28, 1942.

Mission History
During late 1942, this P-38 crashed at the end of Cold Bay Airfield.

Wreckage
Abandoned, and buried at the airfield at some point. In 1987, the wreckage was excavated by Dick Odgers and parts salvaged.

These parts were eventually acquired by Hill Aerospace Museum and used in the restoration P-38J 42-67638 restoration project, restored by Ed Kaleta of San Diego.
