Aircraft History
Built by Lockheed Aircraft Corporation (LAC) in Burbank, California. Model 222-62-09. Constructors Number 222-5224. Delivered to the U. S. Army Air Force (USAAF) as P-38E Lightning serial number 41-2006. On October 22, 1942 redesignated RP-38E serial number 41-2006.

Wartime History
Assigned to the 11th Air Force. This aircraft was officially condemned on July 30, 1942.

Mission History
This aircraft crashed at the end of Cold Bay Airfield. Afterwards, the wreckage of this aircraft was buried at the airfield.

Wreckage
During 1987, parts of this aircraft were dug up by Dick Odgers. These parts were eventually used for the restoration of P-38J 42-67638by Ed Kaleta of San Diego for Hill Aerospace Museum.
