Aircraft History
Built by Kawanishi at Naruo during 1944. Delivered to the Imperial Japanese Navy (IJN). Assigned to the 762 Kōkūtai. Tail code 2-56 in yellow. This aircraft was not painted with primer paint. Instead, dark green paint was applied to the upper surfaces that weathered in the tropics. The fuselage Hinomaru was outlined with a white border.
Wartime History
Although the 762 Kōkūtai was a bomber unit, the 762 Kōkūtai had a Hikotai of fighters equipped with early Shiden Kai operating from at Clark Field on Luzon.
Wartime History
On January 30, 1945 this aircraft was captured largely intact at Clark Field.
