Wartime History
Assigned to the 5th Air Force, 345th Bombardment Group, 498th Bombardment Squadron. No known nickname or nose art.

Mission History
On July 27, 1943 crashed near Berry Drome (12 Mile) near Port Moresby. This aircraft was officially condemned on July 29, 1943.

Memorials
Both crew were officially declared dead the day of the mission. After the recovery of remains, both crew were transported to the United States for permenant burial.

Banks was buried in 1948 at High Springs Cemetery in High Springs, FL.
Bardwell's burial is unknown. Presumably in his hometown in the United States.
