Pilot Lt. Yutaka Tonoi (KIA) Observer Lt. Chokiti Orihara (KIA) Crashed March 7, 1943 Aircraft History Built by Mitsubishi. Manufacture number unknown. Delivered to the Japanese Army Air Force (JAAF) as Type 100 Command Reconnaissance Aircraft Shinshitei / Ki-46-II Dinah manufacture number unknown. Wartime History Assigned to the 70th Dokuritsu Dai Shijugo Chutai (70th Independent Command Squadron). Painted overall gray. The tail had the squadron motif of a reverse "S" in white denoting a river. Mission History On March 7, 1943 took off piloted by Lt. Yutaka Tonoi with observer Lt. Chokiti Orihara on a reconnaissance mission over Darwin. Crashed into the sea off Bathurst Island.
