Aircraft History Built by Nakajima. Delivered to the Japanese Army Air Force (JAAF) as Type 1 Fighter / Ki-43 Hayabusa (Oscar) manufacture number unknown. Wartime History Assigned to an unknown Sentai (Air Regiment). No known markings or tail code. Mission History This Oscar ditched or crash landed near the jetty of Bogia Harbor off Bogia. This aircraft came to rest upside down on a sandy bottom at a depth of 8-12m. Wreckage Japanese single engine aircraft upside down in the water, several hundred yards directly out from the jetty at Bogia. Most likely a Ki-43 Oscar, although often incorrectly called a "Zero". Rod Pearce adds: "I dove this wreck in 1972, it was in perfect condition. I thought it was a Hamp, but it could be an Oscar." Contribute
