Mission History
On February 25, 1944 this bomber encountered B-25D "Mitch The Witch" 42-87293 at 3,000' near Kavieng over the Bismarck Sea, headed towards Rabaul.

The B-25 made seven firing passes from several directions before the Sally caught fire and crashed into the sea, causing the tail section to break off on impact, and sink. The shoot down was recorded in a series of photographs that have been highly reproduced.
