Aircraft History Built by Columbia Aircraft Corporation under license to Grumman. Delivered to the U.S. Navy (USN) as J2F-6 Duck bureau number 36956 on February 9, 1944 at Bethpage, NY. Sent overseas to the South Pacific (SoPAC). Wartime History Assigned to Headquarters Squadron 1, HEDRON 1 on Guadalcanal and Navy Composite Squadron 8 (VJ-8), The precise dates of both assignments unknown. Officially wriitten off March 16, 1945 on Guadalcanal. Display Parts are displayed at the Vilu War Museum, confirming the Bureau Number of this aircraft. It is unclear if the rest of the aircraft survived the war.
