Aircraft History
Built by Lockheed Aircraft Corporation (LAC) in Burbank, California. Constructors Number 6034. Delivered to the USAAF on September 13, 1942 as A-28-LO serial number 41-23175. Disassembled and shipped overseas to Australia.

Wartime History
On December 5, 1941 delivered to the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) as Hudson A16-105. Assigned to 1 Operational Training Unit (1 OTU). No known nickname or nose art. This Hudson was used as a transport in New Guinea.

Post War
On November 19, 1945 this Hudson was placed into storage. Used by a number of civilian operators and registered as VH-FXF. Owned by Malcolm Long and displayed at Air World. On January 23, 2001 moved to Australian War Memorial and placed into storage.

Defence Aid 09/10/41:Rec 2AD ex USA 05/12/41.Flight tested 13/12/41.Received at the Operational Training Unit ex 2 AD 20/12/41. No Turret fitted.Rec 5AD ex OTU 14/04/42.Rec 1OTU 30/04/42.Accident 10/07/42 when on landing the aircraft overshot and skidded through a fence landing at Western Junction. Repaired by 27/07/42. Used in Port Moresby by 1OTU 23/11/42 to 23/01/42 with 14 other Hudsons as part of Special Transport Flight for "an indefinite period for the purposes of transporting troops, arms and equipment to the forward battle areas" at Buna and Sanananda. A16-105 was one of these aircraft, and was flown by Flight Lieutenant David W I Campbell. Known as No 1 OTU Detached Flight and under the Command of Squadron Leader O B Hall, (15 Hudsons and crews in Transport Role)they flew under extremely hazardous conditions from Ward's at Moresby to Soputa and Dobodura until recalled on 11th January 1943. Total of 645 sorties flown by 1OTU. 01/01/43, flown to Townsville by F/Lt David Campbell for an engine change at 12 RSU due to excessive oil consumption along with A16-2. 23/01/43, returned to 1 OTU. 28/08/43, fitted with dual controls. Rec 2AD ex 1OTU 03/04/45. Placed in 2AD Storage 19/11/45. Offered for Disposal 27/08/46. 24/09/47, sold to European Air Transport, Sydney NSW. Became VH-BKY, VH-EWB and VH-EWS per E/E88 Card.
