Aircraft History
Built by Kawanishi. Delivered to the Imperial Japanese Navy (IJN) as Type 2 Flying Boat (H8K2 Emily). Assigned to an unknown Kokutai. Painted with green upper surfaces and gray lower surfaces.

Wartime History
On August 17, 1942 this Emily was moored in Makin Lagoon off Makin Island. During the night of August 17-18, 1942 "Makin Raid" disabled by Sgt Buck Stidham and Sgt Walter Carroll that destroyed two seaplanes using their Boys Anti-Tank rifle.

This Emily was sunk about a kilometer off the northwest end of King's wharf in Makin Lagoon. Its port wing is missing but it had the 20mm guns in the nose and tail.
