Aircraft History
Built by Grumman as Model G-50 in Bethpage, New York. Constructors Number A-12015. Delivered to the U.S. Navy (USN) as F6F-5 Hellcat bureau number 94263.

During 1956, assigned to NAF Research & Development (R&D) at NAS China Lake and used as a target drone. In 1965 placed into storage at NAS Norfolk for five years.

Restoration
In 1976 donated to the U.S. Marine Corps Museum (USMC Museum). During 1978 restored at MCAS Cherry Point, NC into the original configuration for a F6F-3 Hellcat in the markings of VMF-511.

Display
In 1983, loaned to the Cradle of Aviation Museum where it is displayed to the present day.
