On May 8, 1945 took off from USS San Jacinto (CVL-30) and ditched off Ulithi.

Henwood was rescued and returned to duty aboard USS San Jacinto (CVL-30). Later, on August 13, 1945 Henwood ditched F6F-5 Hellcat 78006 and was again rescued.
