Friends from Troy New York meet on Iwo Jima
(Left to Right) S1c Howard D. McAlonie, 2nd Lt. John F. McGrath and Abbot Hope pose in front of their tent on the black sand of the beach on Iwo Jima. Both Howard D. McAlonie and Abbot Hope were U.S. Navy (USN) 133rd Naval Construction Battalion (133rd NCB) "Seabees" on Iwo Jima. The next day on July 21, 1945 2nd Lt. John F. McGrath went Missing In Action (MIA) piloting F4U Corsair 81095 off Sonai on Iriomote Jima.
