Aircraft History
Built by Chance-Vought. Assigned to VMF-422. During January 1944, boarded USS Kalinin Bay (CVE-68). On January 24, 1944 flown to Tarawa Airfield (Hawkins Field), prior to the invasion of the Marshall Islands.

Mission History
Took off from Tarawa Airfield (Hawkins Field) on a ferry flight to Funafuti Airfield. During the flight, met a tropical storm and caused a total of twenty-two to ditch or went missing in action.

Memorials
Officially declared dead on January 26, 1945. Memorialized on the tablets of the missing at Honolulu Cemetery (Punchbowl).
