F4F-4 Wildcat Bureau Number ? (Fuselage No. 2)

Aircraft History
Built by Grumman Corporation in Bethpage, New York. Delivered to the United States Navy (USN) or United States Marine Corps (USMC). Likely an F4F-F Wildcat bureau number unknown.

Wartime History
During the Pacific War or in the immediate postwar period, this aircraft was one of two Wildcat fuselages dumped near Roi-Namur, between North Pass and Mellu Island. Prior to dumping, both aircraft were stripped of usable parts and had their engines removed.

The two fuselage are on a 90' bottom, a few yards apart. The fuselages appear undamaged.
