Aircraft History
Built by Grumman Corporation in Bethpage, New York. Delivered to the United States Navy (USN) or United States Marine Corps (USMC). Likely an F4F-F Wildcat, bureau number unknown.

Mission History
Took off from Oahu on a training mission. During the flight, crashed into the sea on the leeward coast of Oahu. Possibly, due to an accidental collision with a towed target. The precise identity of this aircraft is unknown. A total of 58 F4F Wildcats crashed off Oahu during the Pacific War.

Wreckage
During 1973, discovered by SCUBA divers. During 1982, the wreckage was moved on the sea floor by the force of Hurricane Iwa. Nearby is the wreckage of F6F Hellcat.
