Aircraft History
Built by Douglas as DC-3-194B. Constructor Number 1944. Purchased by the Royal Netherlands Indian Airways / Koninklijke Nederlandsch-Indische Luchtvaart Maatschappij (KNILM) and registered as PH-ALW on June 2, 1940. This aircraft operated in the Netherland East Indies (NEI).

Wartime History
On March 1, 1942 evacuated from the Netherland East Indies (NEI) to Australia. On March 19, 1942 transferred to Australian government for use as a military transport with call sign VH-CXE. On May 15, 1942 assigned to the U.S. Army Air Force (USAAF) with serial number 41-1944 assigned locally. Next, to the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) and assigned to No. 21 Squadron.

In Australia during 1942 to 1943, this DC-3 was used by General Douglas MacArthur as a personal transport.

Transfered to RAAF 21 Squadron and assigned call sign VH-CXE. Used by General MacArthur as a transport during 1942-1943.

On August 15, 1943 assigned to No. 36 Squadron with call sign VH-CXL. On April 1, 1944 assigned to Australian National Airways (ANA). On March 17, 1945 the USAAF designated as C-49H 44-83229 for administrative purposes.

Postwar
On May 22, 1946 operated by ANA as "Oana" registerd as VH-ANR . Next, owned by Ansett-ANA during October 1957 and operated by Butler Air Transport during April 1958. Then Airlines of New South Wales during early 1959.

Storage & Display
Stored at Schofield begining July 24, 1972, and later transfered to Camden Airport during November 1974. Today, display at Queensland Air Museum.
