Built by Douglas as DC-2-243. Constructors Number 2087. On August 18, 1939 delivered to the U. S. Army Air Force (USAAF) as C-39 serial number 38-530.

Wartime History
On March 9, 1942 assigned to the 5th Air Force. Assigned Australian radio call sign VH-CCF.

Mission History
On March 9, 1944 took off on a flight and suffered carburettor icing that resulted in the aircraft force landed at Molesworth. All three crew members and fourteen passengers survived the landing.
