Aircraft History Built by Aichi, completed during October 1943. Uncoded serial number 450. Delivered to the Imperial Japanese Navy (IJN) as Type 99 Dive Bomber Ku Ku Kamba (Kanbaku) / D3A2 Model 22 Val manufacture number 3450. Wartime History Assigned to either the 582 Kōkūtai (582 Air Group) or 552 Kokutai (552 Air Group). No known tail code. This Val operated from Rabaul and was about two months old when it crashed. Between December 15, 1943 until December 31, 1943 took off from Rabaul area on a bombing mission against Arawe. Over the target area, shot down and crashed on land. Wreckage Engine and pieces of wreckage are present. The manufacure number 3487 is visible at three locations in the wreckage.
