Aircraft History
Built by Douglas. Construction Number 4723. On September 15, 1942 delivered to the U. S. Army Air Force (USAAF). Assigned to the 374th Troop Carrier Group, 33rd Troop Carrier Squadron in Florence, SC. Assigned to the 5th Air Force in Australia on October 26, 1942 with Australian calls sign VH-CDS. Nickanamed "The Jayhawk".

Wartime History
On January 12, 1943 at 5 Mile Drome (Wards) this C-47 suffered a collision on the ground with C-47 41-38667. Officially condemned on December 1, 1943 after an accident (unclear if the January 12, 1943 incident or another accident).
