Aircraft History
Built by Nakajima. Delivered to the Imperial Japanese Navy (IJN). Assigned to ? Kokutai. No known markings.

Wartime History
During the American occupation of Japan, this aircraft was captured by U. S. forces. Transported to the United States along with about 145 Japanese aircraft aboard three U.S. Navy (USN) aircraft carriers. In the United States, this aircraft was used for technical evaluation.

Display
During 1946, displayed outdoors at NAS Willow Grove until 1981.

Storage
During 1981, acquired by the National Air & Space Museum. The aircraft and the engine (separate) are in storage at the NASM Paul E. Garber Facility. It is the only example in a museum worldwide.
