Aircraft History
Built by Boeing as B-29A-60-BN Superfortress with Constructor's Number 11526. Assigned U. S. Army Air Force (USAAF) serial number 44-62049.
Delivered to the Royal Air Force (RAF) on August 25, 1951, as Washington B.1 serial number WW353.
Arrived in Australia on September 23, 1952, and delivered to the Royal Australian Air Force. (RAAF) serial nmber A76-1 was assigned to the aircraft, though it was never applied to the airframe.
The aircraft served with the Aircraft Research and Development Unit (ARDU) where it was used for testing and trials. Struck off charge on September 5, 1956. Sold for scrap on October 23, 1956 and scrapped at Tocumwal in September 1957.
