On April 9, 1943 pilot of B-25D "Little Butch" 41-29964 that crashed two hours after take off in French Guiana (Guyana) with Harmon the sole survivor. On October 30, 1943 bailed out of P-38G Lightning 42-13415 south of Kiukiang in China and was rescued by Chinese Communist forces and later returned to duty.
