Aircraft History Built by North American Aviation (NAA). Constructors Number 87-7870. Delivered to the U.S. Army Air Force (USAAF) as B-25D Mitchell serial number 41-29705. Ferried overseas via Hickam Field then across the Pacific to Australia. Wartime History Assigned to the 5th Air Force (5th AF), 3rd Bombardment Group (3rd BG), 13th Bombardment Squadron (13th BG). Nicknamed "Baby Blitz" in capital letters with quotation marks. Wartime History On April 12, 1943 parked at 14 Mile Drome (Schwimmer) near Port Moresby. During the Japanese air raid bombs dropped by G4M1 Betty bombers damaged this B-25 with bomb fragments. Wreckage Afterwards, this aircraft was written off and converted to components and the rest was scrapped or otherwise disappeared.
