Aircraft History Built by Consolidated at San Diego. Constructors Number 5329. Delivered to the U.S. Army Air Force (USAAF) as B-24L-1-CO Liberator serial number 44-41393. Ferried overseas via Hickam Field then across the Pacific to Australia. Wartime History During December 1944, assigned to the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) as B-24L Liberator serial number A72-71. Assigned to No. 21 Squadron with fuselage code MJ-F. No known nickname or nose art. Wreckage During February 1952 this Liberator was stricken off charge and abandoned at Derby Airfield. Until the early 1980s, wreckage remained including the wing, debris plus at least one .50 caliber machine gun.
