Aircraft History Built by Consolidated at San Diego. Delivered to the U.S. Army Air Force (USAAF) as B-24D-155-CO Liberator serial number 42-72777. Ferried overseas to the South Pacific. Wartime History Assigned to the 13th Air Force, 5th Bombardment Group, 31st Bombardment Squadron. Nicknamed "Mr. Lucky" and later "About Average" in yellow lettering. On the right side of the nose art of a reclining red headed woman wearing red and white lingerie with high heels. On the left side of the nose was an eagle releasing a two bombs. In total, this B-24 flew at least sixty bombing missions in the South Pacific. At the end of the Pacific War, dismantled and abandoned at Nadzab Airfield until scrapped during 1947.
